Skilled Healthcare: The Real Victim in an Outrageous Case of Injustice and Vengeance

So much for our impartial judicial system. One of the the jurors in the case against Skilled Healthcare may have lied to the court in order to get onto the jury. Talk about an agenda against a nursing home and personal vendetta to destroy a business devoted to helping people. This juror allegedly denied having any knowledge or familiarity with one of the nursing home facilities in question. In fact, the juror secretly had a negative opinion of Skilled Healthcare -- and this same juror apparently used to work in the county coroner’s office and in that capacity had dealings with a friend of hers who had issues with a Skilled nursing home. By any standard, that's a blatant conflict of interest.

It gets better! This juror bragged about it after the trial was over, at a reception hosted by the District Attorney’s office. It was so bad that it was actual two other jurors who heard it and brought it to the attention of Skilled’s attorneys. Again: this stuff is outrageous! We need our public officials to share this outrage, because this juror may have led a secret battle to crucify Skilled and play politics with our judicial system.

Based on these facts, the judge should declare a mistrial and strike down this verdict. After all, the cornerstone of our legal system rests on impartial jurors weighing the evidence, not injecting their personal beliefs into the outcome of a major trial.

And yet, activists continue their efforts to portray Skilled as the villain. Are you kidding me? A person with a grudge against the company purportedly lies to get on the jury, leads the effort to condemn Skilled . . . and the brags about it?!?! That's the kind of "justice" we see in dictatorships, not America. Let's strike the verdict and start over.
